Animation Principles (MAAA111)

NOTE: Students are required to bring pencils, a Wacom Cintiq stylus, a notebook for taking notes, and the Sparkbook for their weekly sketchbook assignments

Animation Principles Week-by-Week Breakdown
Week 1: Intros / Ice Breakers. Sketchbook assignments for the quarter are to be created using varied media (Copic markers, brush pens, watercolor pencils, Col-Erase pencils).
Week 2: Shape Morph Animation Due. Quiz 1.
Week 3: Animation Practice Exercises Due: Bounce in place. Accelerate on incline. Bounce on arcs. Quiz 2.
Week 4: Bouncing Ball Obstacle Course Animation Due. Download the Obstacle Course template. Quiz 3.
Week 5: Flour Sack Fall Due. Flour Sack Template. Quiz 4.
Week 6: Successive Breaking of Joints Art Director review and critique.
Week 7: Successive Breaking of Joints Animation Due. Quiz 5.
Week 8: Walk Cycle (Hips, Body and Feet) review and critique.
Week 9: Final sketchbook check. Emotional Walk Part A: Hips, Body and Feet.
Week 10: Studio Time. One on one help.
Week 11: Emotional Walk Part B: Integrating Head and Hands. Final Exam.
